Undergraduate Degrees

We offer five undergraduate degrees that integrate quantitative skills training with the teaching of social science disciplines. Learning involves hands-on opportunities to analyse real social science data with close support in small groups.

The degrees also offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience through internships with selected high-profile employers. Our students gain a vast transferable skill set, opening doors to an exciting range of jobs and careers.

Postgraduate Degrees

Our flagship Postgraduate degree is the Social Research MSc with its new ‘with quantitative methods’ pathway. The degree offers a flexible and comprehensive qualification that will make any graduate a sought-after researcher. It combines training in a combination of quantitative and qualitative social research skills with the essentials of research design.

The opportunity to undertake a placement-based dissertation is a key aspect of the Social Research MSc and involves projects with a range of hosts including the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and a range of third and private sector employers.

Advanced Methods Workshops

The Advanced Methods Workshops course is our new and exciting offer for postgraduate students. The course allows students to customise their learning experience by selecting from a range of workshops on advanced social science research methods. Each workshop is delivered by an expert in the field and teaches the advanced methodological skills needed for innovative research. This year, the workshops include Computational Text Analysis, Latent Class Analysis, Participatory Research Methods, Mixed Methods techniques and many more.

Students seeking introductory methods training should consider registering for our non-credit Micro-Methods Workshops.
