- Using Quantitative Methods in your Dissertation

This session, hosted by Dr Alan Marshall, is for postgraduate students within the School of Social and Political Science who need advice and guidance on using quantitative methods in their dissertation. There will be opportunities for questions, discussion and networking with other students interested in quantitative research methods.
- Talking Methods Seminar – Digital Research in Hybrid, Fractured and Hidden Worlds
Thursday 24 February 2022, 13:00 – 14:00 GMT
In this seminar, Dr Angus Bancroft will discuss social research in hybrid, fractured and hidden digital spaces. This event is open to all, so sign up, spread the word and join the conversation as we ‘talk methods’.
- Qualitative and Creative Methods Drop-in Surgery
Thursday 24 February 2022, 14:00 – 16:00 GMT
This surgery is for postgraduate students within the School of Social and Political Science who need advice and guidance on using qualitative and creative methods in their dissertation. Drop by anytime between 2pm and 4pm to chat with Dr Emma Davidson and Dr Jimmy Turner about your research project.
We also have a number of online resources that you can engage with not only during Flexible Learning Week but throughout the semester.
- Dissertation Support
Our Dissertation Support Learn site, developed in collaboration with the Student Development Office, is available to all postgraduate students within the School of Social and Political Science. It contains a range of workshops and resources designed to support students with their dissertation covering everything from research methods to the writing process and referencing.
- Micro-Methods Workshops
Our Micro-Methods Workshops offer introductory training in a broad range of social science research methods and software packages. They are delivered online as self-study modules and can be accessed by University of Edinburgh students and staff at any point during the academic year.
